Deciding to talk to go for counselling or therapy can be a daunting decision. Sometimes people fear being

judged or criticised by the counsellor/ therapist. I aim to offer a place where you can be yourself and where

you can talk about things which might be difficult to say to family or friends without fear of judgement or

ridicule.

People come for counselling or therapy for many reasons - some vague and unformed, some clear and

specific. You may come because of definite, so-called problems, or because you want to grow as a person

in some way.  Whatever the reason, I see problems as opportunities. This is not to minimise the suffering that

accompanies difficult times, however it is a viewpoint that sees the challenges which life brings as a

meaningful part of our life’s path.  Paradoxically, by going more deeply into the problems of life, unexpected

solutions can emerge which can make life seem more satisfying than before.

Key aspects of approach I use:-

• Sees problems as a normal part of life, even as useful, and not as an indicator of personal weakness or failure

• Follows each person’s unique experience, rather than applying pre-conceived ideas as to what works for what issue
